  16. You need to read this file only if the ViDir/ViRes File Monitoring System 
  17. files are on a CD-ROM or if the files are contained in a subdirectory.  
  18.  
  19. The ViDir/ViRes File Monitoring System can be successfully executed from a 
  20. read-only medium, like a CD-ROM.  There are some limitations, as noted at 
  21. the end.

  24. Installation from CD-ROM or Subdirectory
  25. ----------------------------------------
  26. To install the ViDir/ViRes File Monitoring System when the Monitoring 
  27. System's files are in a subdirectory, as they may be on a CD-ROM, follow 
  28. these instructions.

  30. Copy all of the ViDir/ViRes File Monitoring System files to the root 
  31. directory of a diskette (example:  "COPY g:\vidir102\*.* a:\").  When 
  32. complete, type "a:" and ENTER, where "a" is your floppy diskette letter, 
  33. then "ViInstal" and ENTER.  Then, follow the installation program's 
  34. directions.  If you need help, read the ViRead.Me file for "Quick 
  35. Installation" instructions.  Or read the ViDir.HLP file, which is the user 
  36. manual and help file, for complete installation instructions.

  39. CD-ROM Limitations
  40. ------------------
  41. When you execute the ViDir/ViRes File Monitoring System directly from a 
  42. read-only medium, like a CD-ROM, some features will not operate 
  43. successfully:  specifically, the ones that attempt to write to the default 
  44. directory on the disk from which the ViDir program is executed.  These 
  45. include:  
  46.  
  47.   *  Create Copy-Used BAT file
  48.   *  Create Copy-Unused BAT file
  49.   *  Create Delete-Unused BAT file
  50.   *  Save to disk in-memory directory
  51.   *  Load in-memory directory from disk
  52.  
  53. In addition, you will not be able to save your configuration options when 
  54. you terminate the ViDir program.
